Fall off the bone BBQ ribs

BBQ ribs are such an easy dinner that requires very little prep, clean up an its such an affordable meal for the family. You can get a rack of ribs for about $7 to $12 dollars and make a delicious meal out of it. For the rack pictured above, we ate my husband, myself and my 1 year old and we had a bit of left overs. Every time I make ribs I make sure that I will be home doing chores or working because they do take a while to cook, but trust me it's worth it. These are cooked at a low temperature for a while which is why they will literally fall off the bone clean. If you watch my Instagram reel, you will be able to see that I cut them with a spoon on purpose to show just how tender they are. Continue reading to make the perfect fall off the bone BBQ ribs.

What to pair with the BBQ ribs

I always do different things as sides to pair with the ribs. This time I simply made a quick homemade coleslaw and fries with pickles and my favorite pickled onions. You can find the video for my favorite picked onions here. Other popular side dishes are mashed potatoes, potato salad, garden salad or beans. Any of these easy items will perfectly pair with the ribs.

Since we had leftovers the next day I made my husband a sandwich that was so delicious I am craving it again. I added the pieces of the ribs with a bit more BBQ sauce and some white cheddar cheese on a pan and I melted it all together. On a flat pan I added some butter and grabbed my favorite sour dough bread from Trader Joes to toast it on both sides. I added the meat to the bread with pickles and pickled onions and I flipped it a few times until it was toasted on both sides. It was incredibly delicious and super easy to make.

How to make the BBQ ribs fall off the bone and ingredients required

Ok, let's get into how to make this delicious recipe. You will need the following ingredients:

  • Rack of ribs

  • Pork rub seasoning. If you don't have it you can use spices like salt, pepper, paprika, garlic and onion powder.

  • BBQ sauce of your choice

  • Bake safe dish.

To make the ribs you will start by preheating the oven at 275°. Then remove them from the package and making sure that you wash them properly. Once the meat has been washed, you will flip it over to the bones side and you will remove the membrane. To do this, you might have to use a small knife to start by the corner then slowly peel them off. It should come off as a whole piece.

Once you remove the membrane, place the ribs in a baking safe dish or foil dish and completely cover the ribs with the pork rib seasoning on both sides. Cover the baking safe dish with foil and place in the oven for about 3 hours. Make sure that you check them when they have been cooking for an hour and a half or 2 hours. If you have a bigger rack then you might have to cook it for longer than 3 hours. Once the ribs have been cooking for 3 hours, take them out, remove the juice from the dish or place the ribs in a cooking sheet and completely cover them with BBQ sauce with a generous amount. Turn on the broiler on high and let the BBQ thicken for about 5 minutes facing up. NOTE: all broilers are different. My old oven had degrees for the broiler and my current oven only has low and high. If your oven has degrees I would do around 450°. Check the ribs every minute or two to avoid them burning. They should look like the ones below in the picture.
